Class Development

This 1-day class is designed for play and exploration. I have taken one of my favorite stitches and turned, twisted, interwoven, and layered it into a fun geometric design. I use crescents in nearly all my counted canvas designs, but when I began this one I asked myself, "How many different ways can I use the crescent and still make a good design?"

Class Goals

  • explore various kinds of crescents
  • learn how to take a basic crescent and change it into something else

Stitches

  • asymmetrical acute crescent
  • right angle crescent
  • double-sided crescent
  • curved crescent
  • interwoven crescents
  • teardrop crescent
  • layered crescent

Comments

Too often we don’t take the time to play with our stitching, but playing is the way we expand and grow as stitchers. The same is true of designers. We spend so much time designing toward a specific need or under a deadline, we seldom take the time to play with our designing. But that playing is what gives us permission to push the envelope in our quest for that next design breakthrough. For this piece I began with play, just for myself, and out popped a fun class.

The colors offered are :
aqua canvas with blue, fuchsia, and purple
black canvas with periwinkle, green, and pink
leventeen blue canvas with green, copper, and lilac
