Class Development

This 1-day class was created to mimic the cool shade and abundance of water here in Oregon while doing homage to the swirl of fireworks from our Independence Day celebrations. I tried to choose stitches and threads that recreated the feeling of summer, which for me is shade and breezes and fireworks.

Class Goals

to learn about different types of threads, including very fine metallics, and tips and
    tricks for working with them
exploring different ways to work with overdyed threads
learning to make thread and color placement choices and how changes can affect a design
to give linen workers a chance to explore the delights of canvas
to learn the correct execution of a variety of stitches, including some totally unique
    to this class

Stitches

Scotch stitch
Jessica
pulled satin stitch
Rhodes stitch
2-step Smyrna cross stitch
layered eyelet — a variation created for this design
pinwheel with star — created just for this design
