Class Development

This class is the third in my popular "Walk" series, following City Walk (2003) and Garden Walk (2006). The beach seemed a natural progression because it is one of my favorite places to vacation. Even a few days there rejuvenates me. Hopefully this design will make the students feel that way also. A major difference between this design and the previous two is the elements are less stylized.

As with City Walk and Garden Walk this class will be an exercise in color. Each student will come to class knowing only her/his canvas color. Then, beginning with choosing an overdyed floss, each student will create a totally unique color scheme. The final colors on the model represent my own interpretation of the theme. Every project that comes out of this class will be different.

Comments

Because this was designed as a class in color theory and confidence, the original color scheme was not recorded. If anyone wants the exact colors in the model, she will have to try to match the colors as closely as she can.

Each student will choose her own canvas and threads colors. Information is included on color theory, choosing a color scheme, and placement of color.

Encouragement in color confidence Linda will act as a sounding board for color choices and placement, but she will not provide acceptance or rejection of a color scheme. That is the student's decision.

Each color scheme will be unique to that student.
